Veyo pool corndog recipe!

Veyo Pool Corndogs Recipe

This recipe for Veyo Pool Corndogs, by Jamie Garner, is from The Sommer Family Cookbook, one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
Contributor:
Jamie Garner

Category:

Ingredients:
1 c. cornmeal
1/4 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. milk or buttermilk
3/4 Tbsp Oil
1 egg
1 3/4 c. flour
1 Tbsp. baking powder
pinch salt
squeeze of honey

Directions:
Heat a pot of oil to about 375 degrees.
Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl, adding the milk, oil and honey last. Add the milk just until you have the same consistency as a think pancake batter, the add oil and honey.
Pour the batter into a tall drinking glass.
Insert a stick (disposable skewers or chopsticks) into the hot dog, pat it dry, then roll into the batter.
Immediately place in the hot oil and turn as necessary to brown all sides. It will only take a few minutes to cook until the cornbread is deep golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Personal Notes:
If you have trouble getting your batter to stick, dip the battered dog into the hot oil for just a couple of seconds to set a thin layer of batter. Allow it to cool a bit then re-batter it. The second layer will stick much better.
You can also do mini corn-dog bites.

Here is another recipe that I found that claims to be the Veyo Pool's, but the main difference I can see is the amount of flour.

Homemade Corn Dogs
Makes 10 Corn Dogs
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
1 1/2 cups buttermilk (regular milk works too)
1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
1 Tablespoon honey
1 (10 count) package Hot Dogs
10 wooden skewers or chopsticks
2 Quarts Vegetable Oil, for frying
Directions: In a medium or large pot, add the oil. Turn heat to medium and heat oil to 350 degrees F.
In a large bowl, add the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Stir together. Then add the beaten egg, buttermilk, oil and honey. Stir until combined. (Batter should be a little thicker than pancake batter)
Remove hot dogs from package. Wipe them all dry with a paper towel (this will help the batter stick to them better) Insert one skewer or wooden stick into each hot dog.
Pour the batter into a tall drinking glass. Holding by the skewer, take one hot dog and dunk it into the batter, coating all of the hot dog. Slowly remove from batter and let a little excess batter drip back into the cup. Immediately place it into the hot oil, while still holding the stick. Turn as necessary to brown all sides. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until all sides are a deep golden brown. Remove from hot oil and place on paper towels to drain grease. Repeat with all hot dogs.

Avocado and eggs:

Deviled Avocado Eggs!
Mix 1 large avocado with 3 egg yolks, add 1 tsp. cilantro and 3 tsp lime juice, 1 tbsp red onion. Pinch of salt and pepper. top with a dash of chili or paprika.

Kamarie turned 4.

Who lives in a pineapple  UNDER THE SEA?!!!!!

Here is her birthday party! (at least that is what we told her.)

Last few minutes as a 3 year old.

Kort wedged himself into this chair and let Kams sit on the chair and hauled her around on his back for her birthday present from him. (at least until I saw them and made him stop.)

Here is the start of a cake that took WAY TOO FREAKING LONG to do.

The pineapple was nice and bright!

The only thing that mattered was that Kamarie LOVED her cake!

At 9 pm, we had a "knock-and-runner"

(haha we used to call it something different when were kids,
but we won't ever admit to it on account of what happened to Paula Dean. LOL)

The knocker/runner left this:

WHO DOES THAT???!!!!!!!

No, really.
WHO DOES THAT???

BTW, I drank more itty bitty cups of tea yesterday than I care to count !

Someone make these Cookies and tell me if they're worth it.

I've seen the recipe for these in a few different places and all of them say the same thing: "If you want the taste of sugar cookies without having to go through the work and mess of rolling them out, then this is the perfect recipe for you!" I kind of thought they were exaggerating a little bit because let's be real - we roll out sugar cookies because it's fun and it's an adventure, not because it's a pain in the rear. Then I got making these and realized that all of those people were actually right. I was completely done in no time and I wasn't a slave to the kitchen, having to roll, cut, frost, and repeat. It was the perfect dessert! (I found this recipe at Cooking Classy)

Ingredients:

Cookies:

2-1/2 cups bread flour (or all-purpose flour is fine)
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1-1/2 Tbsp. sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Frosting:

1/2 cup butter, softened
4 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup half and half
1 tsp. vanilla
Pinch of salt
Several drops of food coloring (optional)

Directions:

COOKIES: Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. (The longer you beat it, the fluffier your cookies will be.)
Add egg and combine well.
Add sour cream and vanilla and mix until completely blended.
Slowly add the flour mixture and stir until well combined.
Gently press the batter into the greased baking dish and spread out with hands. (If you butter your hands, this will help with the stickiness.)
Bake 17-20 minutes, or until edges become lightly golden.
Set aside to cool completely.
FROSTING: In a medium bowl, cream together butter, powdered sugar, and half and half until light and fluffy.
Stir in vanilla and salt, combine well.
Add food coloring until desired color.
Frost your cooled cookie bars evenly.
Cut into squares and serve.

I have to warn you - these are kind of addicting. Like, scary addicting. But, they honestly might just be worth the few extra pounds. Enjoy

FIVE and still ALIVE !!!

Yes, folks, you read that right !!!!!

I ran 5 miles straight on the treadmill today, and I am still alive to talk about it.

No stopping, walking, etc.

Started off wondering if I could go a whole mile. Felt like crap. Felt tired. Felt fat and heavy (went camping this weekend.)

Today's totals and firsts are:

Burned 500 calories in 42..5 minutes.
Burned 800 calories in one session and in 68 minutes.

Ran 5 miles.
Ran for 65 minutes.
Burned 139 carbs in one session.

HOLLA !

PS  Is anyone else out there thinking Halloween thoughts yet besides me?

Awe, this swimg got broke. . . .

I lost it !

I FINALLY lost it !

The 7 STINKIN' lbs. I gained in 2 weeks when I started running............8 weeks ago. Yeah!

I finally lost THOSE stupid lbs.

Seriously! If you are wanting to lose some baby fat, you MUST do it before you turn 42.
I am here to tell you that "metabolism" is NOT your friend after 42 ! ! ! ! ! !
(and it sure isn't when you have your last baby at age 42..9)

This weeks run down.

Mon. Ran 5k. Really it was 3..25, but I couldn't do it faster than my best, but made it through.

Wed. Ran 5k in my new fastest time of 39:10. Felt like puking at the end. Stopped to walk a lap before I ran 1/2 more mile. Burned 500 calories in 42 minutes.

Thursday's workout provided me with a "Deja Vu Nausea". I only get those when I am working out these days. My temporary memory loss included not being able to remember what Hubby looks like and not being able to remember what it feels like to be married. These are just some of the random thoughts that go through my head after a deja vu incident. (Remember, when I have a deja vu, it is ALWAYS followed by 20 seconds of nausea, then usually memory loss. It is supposedly a form of a mini mall seizure?) I had a deja vu last week as well.

Fri. Ran 5k after only getting 5..5 hours of sleep. I would not normally do that.
I would always use that as an excuse to not to. HA!
But, I did use that as an excuse to not push myself however.
I did burn 500 cals. in 42 minutes and 600 cals in 53 minutes.
Actually ran 3..25 then walked .25 then ran .5

Why does it sound better for me to say I ran 5k instead of me saying I ran 3..25?

So, a first for me this week is that I ran 3   5k's in one week.
I never thought I would hear myself say that in my lifetime.

FOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUURRRRR! point FiVE!

4.5 miles without stopping, walking, dying, (okay, almost died), puking (okay, almost felt like puking),

A new PR for sure.

Also, 60 minutes non-stop running is a first as well!

Also, 700 calories burned in one treadmill session, and in one HOUR! Both are firsts.

Okay, enough of my ranting that no one cares about but me. I must document so I don't go crazy trying to remember what actually happened, and so that I know why I went crazy. :)

Because I LOOOOOVE me some good lemon cake......

found it, stole it, gotta make it soon!

Best Lemon Sheet Cake ~ MOIST too, serve warm, or cold

Ingredients
1 duncan hines moist deluxe lemon cake mix
1 c buttermilk
1 3oz. lemon instant pudding mix (dry)

ICING~
4 cups confectioner's sugar
1/3 cups bottled lemon juice
3 Tbsp vegetable oil
3 Tbsp water

Directions
1
In large bowl, stir together dry cake mix and pudding mix. In another bowl, combine all wet ingredients and eggs that the cake mix calls for plus the buttermilk.(where your box reads the amount of water (1 1/3 cup usually), put in 1 cup water and 1/3 cup lemon juice to make the cake even more lemon tasting, if you like) Beat with mixer until blended. Add to dry mixture and beat until combined.
Bake in a greased 9x13 baking pan in a preheated 350 degree oven for the time the cake mix box calls
for...depending on your oven. It will require a couple minutes longer baking time than cake mix box calls for because of the extra moisture produced by the milk. Stick a toothpick in the center to check for doneness.

2
ICING: Combine water, oil, powdered sugar and lemon juice with a mixer until smooth. Add one more tablespoon of water if consistency isn't saucy. "Glaze" the cake when just a little cooled. Do not over glaze it because the icing is sweet. Just a THIN layer is required

"Firsts" for today:

today's "rundown" haha:

ran 5k in less than 40 minutes

burned 500 calories in 43 minutes

burned 102 carbs in 52 minutes.

: )

I amaze myself sometimes!

We were given a bag of clothes from a cousin,
and found a super cute skirt in the bag, and it fit Kinzie perfectly.

Only one problem: the zipper was broken.

and it was an "INVISIBLE" zipper!

and
I have never put in an "invisible" zipper before.  . . . . .
and
it was lined.
I have never put in this kind of lining before.

Okay, so that was 4 problems. . . .

Dang it, well,
I guess I will have to try to fix it somehow.
 It's too cute
of a skirt to not to.

I could have taken shortcuts and made it easier on myself,
but I was experimenting with my patience.
I wanted to know if I could actually do it the way the skirt maker did it.

The hardest part of the process was getting my butt to the store and finding a zipper to replace it with. I don't usually go to craft stores or fabric stores, so it was a bit out of my way.

and I was able to fix it back the way it was. : )

Except . . . that it is a SIDE ZIPPER. . . . . .

hahaha

oops

Tired legs almost got the best of me.

I had to get Kort off to gymnastics class this morning, so I was in a hurry.

You know what that means.  . . . .

I ran the whole 48 minutes.

I lifted weights with squats yesterday, so my legs were dying/oober tired from the very first step.

Funny side note: one time I did squats with weights, then later went and reffed some YW basketball games. I guess I wouldn't quite lift my feet high enough to clear the floor a couple of times, cause I would stumble. When I would stumble, my legs were too tired from the workout to catch me, so I still have scars on my knee from BOTH times I fell that day.

If I do too many squats, it makes it hard for me to go through the act of sitting down. Not a huge problem until you remember how many times you pee in one day. . . . .

So, my legs were tired today. I decided that I would just run a mile, then change the laundry. But a good song came on, so I kept rewinding it and kept going.

Then, I was dying, trying to make it to two miles, so I could go change the laundry. But, I decided to go another "lap". Then a good song came on. I cranked up the speed (turtle speed for any of my cousins) and ran another lap, rewinded/rewound the song two more times and made it to my goal of 3 miles.

I hadn't burned off 500 calories according to my treadmill, so I kept running till 3.25 so I could feel good about conquering that goal.

Shower, change the laundry, and late to gymnastics by 1 minute!

Last game of all-stars for Washington

We played Hurricane.

The regular coach was out of town, so there were two subs for coaches: an assistant Ace Whole coach and the coach of the LAST PLACE team.

Yeah, I guess I can't be trusted to win games. . . . . . . no one asked me to do it.

Kinzie batted 8, who knows why. She played right field. I don't know why the coach put her there, but I know why I would have put her there had I been coaching.

The fastest pitcher on the team was pitching, so if anyone hit the ball, it would more than likely go to right field, and Kinzie is one of the two best outfielders on the team.

She hit the ball all 3 times up to bat. One of them got caught by the center fielder. One of them was a hard shot down 3rd base line and got a double and stretched it to 3rd base on a bad throw. The coach told her to stop at 2nd, but she kept going when he wasn't paying attention to the bad throw.

Someone hit a high fly ball to right field, and Kinzie ran up on it before she looked it over. She ended up doing a hard back stretch to reach the ball as it was now landing behind her. She caught that ball, and it was an awesome catch.

Our team ended up winning in the 4th inning by the ten run mercy rule.

We rewarded Kinzie with Costa Vida. : )

Pre A-Days 5k run.

(. . . . Activity Days)
"Pre A-Day 5k run" cause I am always in a hurry when I gotta be somewhere in the morning.

I ran on the treadmill and made it to 500 cals burned in 43:40. That's a personal best by over a minute. I did end up running 3.25 miles without stopping, walking, dying, puking, or swearing. Haha. yay for that.

Too bad I don't have A-Days every day.

I have spent a LOT of time the last 2 years trying to prevent Washington Softball from looking like FOOLS.

Tonight, I know that all that time was

W A S T E D !   W A S T E D !  W A S T E D !

I teach my team how to play aggressive ball like any 12 year old should play. Like every player at the all star tournament. And our coaches are not even having them steal the bases, cause they might get thrown out. Not even trying. Pathetic !

The coach, who I used to respect, threw our team under the big fat LOSER BUS ! ! !

The worst player on the team, can't hit 1 practice pitch out of 45, (I was there. I saw it.) came to 3 practices out of 16, is only an 11 yr old player, not only got to play the WHOLE GAME, but also got to pitch the first two innings !!!!!!!! !!!!! !!! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

She walked the first 5 batters. I don't mean that she almost struck them out ! she didn't even pitch them 1 strike. She literally ROLLED THE BALL across the plate for each batter at least once. Two pitches to each girl had the catcher literally jumping as high as she could to catch the pitch.

She has no wind up. She doesn't know how to wind up. The catcher throws the ball back to her, and she can't even catch the throw backs.

She only made the team because her dad was a coach. All those men coaches were buddy buddy with each other.

We have two good pitchers, and both were eligible to pitch the whole game.

I have no idea why this coach refuses to try to win OR even do well !

This is All stars after all. This is NOT the time to let everyone try to figure out how to pitch.

I would tell my players that wanted to pitch during the regular season that if they walked 4, then I would give someone else a turn. I had a lot of girls that wanted to pitch and had only 4 innings per game. So, I had to make it fair for the ones who actually practiced at home.

What this coach, Russ, did tonight was so unfair to the whole team. Some of them have put in a lot of time at practice the past two weeks. Some of us have cancelled plans to go out of town to make sure we could have our girl at practice. (So the team would not suffer by our daughter doing poorly.)

Kinzie, for instance, missed 1 practice out of 16 ish. she is one of the better players, she is 13 not 11. Her only time to play 12 yr old all stars and SHE GOT BENCHED FOR HALF THE GAME.

All the 11 yr olds got to play the whole game. All of them have a "daddy coach". All of them missed at least 8 practices. All of them are really poor players.

The first inning ended with bases nearly loaded and 5-2.

The second inning, Russ put that same girl in to pitch AGAIN !

She walked in 8 runs before the coach took her out and put in his own daughter who is one of our only good pitchers. She has not had a turn to pitch yet . . . . . ? I don't know why, either.

She pitches super fast, but a few inches off every time, so she walked several.

The short stop could not catch a ball, so when the girls would steal bases, they would get another base for the missed throw. Kinz was always backing her up, but the ball would tip off the short stop's glove and spin past Kinzie. It made Kinzie feel like the error was her own fault.

After 2. Score was 14-2.

Our 3 best hitters struck out for no reason. Kinz was one of them.

Then Kinz got taken out of the game.

Several of the girls on the other team were leaving the bases early which means an automatic out. It took like 5 times of me telling the ump before he did anything about it. Then when he did, HE made the call instead of the base ump AND he missed the play at home plate because he was making the call. The girl at home was out, but got to score cause the ump was doing the other guy's job.

I told the guy in charge and he didn't seem interested in doing anything about it right then. Ugh.

They finally got called out for leaving early a second time, and they were 12 runs ahead of us by then. Dumb runners.

They didn't even score on us the last time up to bat.

I was so mad at Russ by the end of the game. I will never respect him as a coach again. I used to think I would pick him for the job. Never again. He's a stupid coach when it comes to game time.

Why waste all our time and money in gas getting to practices and to games if we are not trying to do our BEST????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Hubby said to me on the way home that he might make me coach next year ! ! ! ! ! ! !
(This coach is a good friend of Hubby's as well as mine.)

Ha haha hahahahahahahaha hahahaha !

But seriously, WE LOOKED LIKE FREAKING FOOLS!

Update: Now that it's morning, I can tell you that I couldn't sleep, because I was so mad and disturbed about the game.

When I did fall asleep, I had nightmares about it.

The Ace whole coach will be in charge on Friday's game. I don't even know who will help him.
But, it won't end well. I already feel it.

No reason. . .

. . . ran 3.25 no stopping, walking, puking, dying.

Worked on arms and legs yesterday, so no reason to NOT to run another 5K.
Burned 500 cals. in 46 minutes.

I must document it, so that I will remember why I need mental therapy later.

First all-star game

Kinzie's team got C R E A M E D !

25-0

Kinzie is one of the best hitters and he batted her 8th. so, she only got up to bat once.

She doesn't miss fly balls in the outfield, so she played center field the first two innings.

But, there were critical plays at !st base that were missed because she wasn't there.

She played 1st base 3rd and 4th innings which allowed our catcher to try to pick off some of the runners. (Kinzie will catch her throws and the other girl who plays 1st base won't.)

Most of our girls struck out. There was no reason for it, they just did.

Our 2nd pitcher walked nearly their whole team. It was embarrassing. She has no form for pitching, and it's frustrating to watch her struggle to get the balls all the way to home plate.

Our first two innings of the game were played on the wrong field ! The girls were pitching from the Juniors( 13 yr olds) pitch plate which is 3 feet further than the 12 yr old pitch plate. When they realized their mistake, they moved our game to another field.

My green team's short stop caught a fly ball while she was playing left field today. Then she hucked it to 2nd base to get a double play ! Most of the good plays were by the girls that played for me. ! ! !

Kinz doesn't play until Wed. again. Hunter plays tomorrow  (Tuesday) against the other 10 yr old washington team.

Ran out of time

to get done exercising before one of my kids had to be to the dentist, so I ran for the whole time.

ANOTHER 5K !

HOLLA ! ! !

Friday, July 5, 2013

FFFFOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUURRRRRRR ! ! ! !

So, I had to go and prove myself wrong.

I got on the treadmill hoping to run a mile without stopping,

and . . . . . .

I ran FOUR miles without stopping, walking, drinking, dying OR passing out !

A NEW PR without waiting 10 months.

I couldv'e gone further, but my brain was already so confused with this new accomplishment that I thought it best to stop and let my brain recover.

Tuesday was the longest I have run: 48 ish minutes in a row.

Today was 55 minutes in a row. I never thought I'd see the day ! ! ! ! !

AND I burned 100 carbs in one hour. First time for that as well.

It's a Yearly Thing !

to set a PR, that is.

I was in a hurry this morning, so in order to get a treadmill workout in before I had to go to activity days, I needed to run most of it.

So I did.

Not only did I run a 5 K (on a stinking treadmill), but also

I ran 3..52 miles without stopping, walking, drinking, or DYING.

The first 250 yards were killers. My legs were so tired that I knew running wasn't gonna happen this morning. Then, they loosened up and I kept going ! : )

PS. If you recall, a year ago I said I was going to invent a treadmill that has a wrap around screen so I could run on a beach or in the mountains.

Well, someone beat me to it, dang it ! I might have to get that new Nordic Track. It's not a wrap around, but sorta close to my idea. And it has an incline of 40 instead of just 10. That could come in handy for a tight fanny ! ; )

Bucket list check off sheet: 1 done!

Kanarraville Falls:

We parked at the church on Main street and walked the 5 blocks to the base of the hill where the hike started, so we didn't have to pay the $10 parking fee at the base of the hill.

(There is a "no parking on the sides of the streets" ordinance in KVille.
That's why we didn't park closer.)

The parking lot is at the base of a 200+ yard hill. Kams tired quickly,
so I hauled her most of the way up that first hill.

This is overlooking K ville, and into New Harmony.

It was harder than people had explained to me. It was longer than people had described.

It was 1..2 miles from the church to the fence where the "trail" starts.

Behind me is the fence and the trail to the falls.

The trail was kind of annoying.
Up, then down, then up, then around, then take your choice of three paths, which one?
Then more up, then down, then over a tree, then under a tree, then up, then down.

Once I figured out that it was so much easier to hike up the
stream than up the path, it was a much better hike.

Kamarie got to spend a lot of time on my shoulders on the three miles up the canyon. She spent a lot of time on Hubby's shoulders, too. She gets cold very easily, and we were trying to spare her of having wet feet for as long as possible. Besides, her wet muddy feet would have wiped all over our shirts, so we carried her. It was all good. She had a blast, smiling the whole way!

The water was pretty cold.
Five seconds in the stream had us looking for a trail again so our feet could thaw out.

Koby spent a lot of time rock hopping.
He was trying to stay dry as long as possible. . .

Kinzie showing some of the ups and downs

 and ups and downs.

Another picture of Kams having a great time. . . .

1..2 miles on the road and 1..5 ish miles on this trail and
Koby managed to keep his feet dry to this point. . .

The end of Koby's dry shoes as the canyon walls force him to hike in the water.

Here we are at the falls #1.
Hubby wanted to turn around here,
cause that ladder is pretty sketchy, and he was afraid for the kids' safety.

There were so many people on this hike on this Saturday,
that there was never a shortage of people to ask to take photos for you.

The kids had no trouble at all climbing this rickety ladder.

Up the canyon on our way to falls #2.

Scrambling. . . .

This girl was leading the pack so much that if I wanted a picture of her face,
I had to have her turn around.

Falls #2

Kauri is a mountain goat.
She loved every second of this hike.
We got to as far as we could go as a family,
but she wanted to keep going up the canyon!

Kash is in red hat in center, Kort is off to the right scrambling up a rock.

This is the "slide".
Kauri tried it out several times,
and so did Kort.

Then, I supposed that I had to try it.

Two things happened to convince us to turn back at the second waterfall
instead of hiking up to the third:

Kinzie had twisted her ankle as her foot slipped off a rock in the creek just before waterfall #2.

Kortlen's boat shoes were old, and we didn't realize the tread was so fragile. By the time we reached the falls # 2, he didn't have any bottoms left to his shoes, and we had the whole 2..7ish miles still to hike back.

So, we decided not to go any further.

{I am running out of lives with my curiosity. (Curiosity killed the cat. . .  ) I wanted to go to the end of the trail with Kauri. I wanted to know what was up there!}

Handing Kamarie off to Kash.
The line to use the ladder was pretty long the whole time we were there, both ways.

Kash, Kinz, Kauri, Koby, and Kams.

Since Hubby and I are old enough to remember a tv show called MacGyver,
we took my headband and Kinzie's headband and wrapped them
around Kort's shoes bungy cord style to hold his shoes together
for as long as we could.
(He weighs a LOT more than Kams,
so we did not want to carry him the whole way down.)

Koby walks fast.
He hikes even faster.
He gets annoyed at slow people.
I am a slow hiker.
I feel like I am going fast, but I get further behind with every step.

I blame it on my short Alldredge legs.

Think about it:

my legs are so much shorter than Hubby's and Koby's
that I have to take more steps
than they do!
They take 3 steps to my 5 steps.
So, therefore, I am technically walking faster than they are to cover the same ground. : )

Hubby ended up having to carry Kort about a quarter of a mile
as soon as the path separated from the water.
Hiking in the water was fine with broken shoes,
but in the dirt, little rocks would get in under his feet.

Then, I suggested Kort wear Kauri's shoes and Hubby haul Kauri instead,
since she is 10 lbs lighter than Kort.
So, Kort put on Kauri's shoes.

The blisters were starting to form,
and there was still a mile of dirt road to go,
so we stopped to chill our feet for one last time.

Koby and Kash took turns hauling Kamarie down the hill.
Like I said, he gets annoyed with slow hikers,
so he and Kash carried Kams so we could go faster.
HA, then Hubbs ends up carrying someone bigger and staying as slowish.

I was practically running to stay up with Koby walking once we hit the dirt road.
Like I said, short legs!

We ate pbj sandwiches, Doritos, and a soda at the park.

Hubby was too sleepy to drive us home, so Koby offered and I let him.

Bucket list remaining: hike Havasupai
                               hike the Narrows in Zion
                               hike the Subway in Zion
                               hike across Pine Valley Mtn,

Who is coming with me?
