:'-(

Last night, Kamarie, who is almost 2.5,
gets out of bed around midnight and
makes me take her to the toilet so she can poop.
No, she has never worn panties a day in her life.
No, I have not tried to potty train her yet.
Yes, she has done #1 and #2 in the toilet before.
But, last night was just such an oddity.
she has never demanded to go sit on the toilet to do #2 before.
Panties were going to start a couple of days ago,
until we both got so sick.
I am so not ready to be diaperless yet.

Pneumonia!!

Kamarie has pneumonia!
She started coughing the same day I did. Last Wednesday.
We have coughed the same each day since then.
We have both felt yucky the same, taken medicine the same, been lethargic the same.
It has been very comforting to Kams for me to say,"you're sick, I'm sick, we're both sick, together!"
And she'll say, "yeeaahh..." as she wimpers closer in my arms.

Until last night, then she started coughing different. It sounded like a useless cough. Like it was very annoying, but not being very productive at all. she would cough and cough and cough, then repeat.
Cough meds didn't seem to help. Then during the night and this morning, more useless coughing.
Supposedly, someone at the Int. School has Whooping Cough so I was worried about her having that.
(Until I gooogled it and listened to what a "whoop" cough sounds like, then I knew it wasn't. Cause a "whoop" sounding cough sounds like a laryngospasm!!!! not a "whoop").
I took her to the pediatrician, and besides the ear infection, she has a popping sound in her lungs! the pediatrician handed me the stethescope so I could hear the "pop." I couldn't believe it! Pneumonia.

I asked him to listen to my lungs to see if I had the same thing, so he did.
I also have an ear infection, but I have bronchitis.
He wrote me out a Rx also. Cool. Saved me the trouble of getting an appt.

Kams is way more miserable than I am today.
I was super yucky sick Sun and Mon. but had to chase Hubby around town with errands today.

The incubation period for bronchitis could be 4 days for certain ones, 2 to 4 weeks for others.
So, YES, Hubby! We are blaming YOU!
You are the only one we have both slept with this past month.

BTW, hubby, next time you are sick like that, you are NOT NOT NOT sleeping in our room!

They make it seem so IMPORTANT!

Stake Assistant Women's Sports Director.

They sent a high councilor to our ward to announce just me.

They turned the time over to him and everything.

To announce: just me.

Every ward in the stake was announcing it as well.

It felt really weird, like it was supposed to be all important or something.

Honestly, how many of  you out there even remember the Stake sports directors?
Especially in a stake that doesn't seem to have a lot of interest in this area.

Anywho, assist I shall do. The girl I assist is a sports nut, so this should be easy. Knock on wood!

Got a new calling today.

BUT, I can't tell you yet.
Here's a clue: I had to meet with a member of the Stake Presidency!
But in the meantime, here is the exciting news I found out about while I was visiting with Bro. Wilstead.

http://www.ldschurchnews.com/articles/61916/New-mission-presidents.html

The Wilstead's are the 7th couple down.

Until I got kicked out of their ward 4-5 months ago, I was Denise's visiting teacher for a few years!

They aren't allowed to announce where they will be going yet, but they will have to learn a foreign language.
They only get 4 days in the MTC for training. YIKES!

They have a huge piece of property out here by me, and a horse corral out back and she has horses and dogs. They put their house up for sale, (houses aren't selling super well right now around here) and got a cash offer in 7 days. The buyers are letting them rent it back till they leave in 4 months. Unbelievable!

Super, super neat people! She was always easy to talk to.

The church announced it 3 weeks ago, but my new ward didn't! But, I was glad to hear it from him. It made the whole ordeal more real to hear his prospective. They will be gone 3 years.

Last time someone from my stake got called to be a mission pres, was about 5 years ago. It was our Stake Pres. and he had to move with 2-3 sons to a S. American country.

I told Bro. Wilstead that he needed to drink more Diet Cokes to prevent scary callings like this one!

My bad!

I fed my boys beans for dinner just in time for them to be on an enclosed bus with the swim team for several hours today.

My sincerest apologies to the swim team and their chaperones.

Hehe...

I just learned to cook dried beans!

Either it's good news
that I love my husband so much to be sympathetic to his cause
that I have never learned to cook them before now,
or it's bad news
that I no longer care that he HATES them.

Anyhow, beans have been a staple in my life till I got married.
I like them best with ketchup.
There's really nothing you can do to ruin them.

Hubby spent days,
maybe even weeks,
sitting at the kitchen table unable to leave
till he ate those beans on his plate.

So, I have some dry beans sitting in the cupboard that I have had for a long, long, long time from being on WIC. Probably from when Kort was a baby.

Looking for something to eat that is high in fiber and protein, I decided to experiment with some free beans.

Apparently beans cook slower if you add salt or tomatoes at the beginning.

So, I soaked the beans overnight. rinsed them and put them back in a big pot with 14-16 cups of water.
I used a bag of pinto beans
and a bag of small red beans.
I simmered them till they became tender, since they were so old it took longer, about 4 hours.
I put in 2 bay leaves. I have no idea why, I have just heard that you put them in. I would have put them in at the beginning if I had remembered to.
I added about 2- 3 teaspoons of salt, 1 teas. of pepper.
I added 1 teas of baking soda, and it about foamed over the top of my pot. I would have added 3 teas of soda, but I ran out. (How do you run out of baking soda?! It is almost as cheap as salt!) Anyway, I think you add soda so you won't have so much gas build up in your intestines. (Where's the fun in that?)
I sauteed 2 yellow onions in about 2 Tbls of butter and added them to the pot.
I added a diced green pepper. I added one, cause that's all I had. I would have used 3 if I had them.
I added a can of diced tomatoes. Only one, cause that's all I had.
I added a can of tomato paste to make up for the diced tomatoes I thought I had, but didn't.
Then, I found some cans of Italian stewed tomatoes. I didn't want to add them, cause I wasn't looking for the Italian flavor today, but I was desperate for canned tomatoes.
Then I used my immersion blender and pureed gently the Italian stewed tomatoes while they were in the can. Gently- so it would be a little chunky. 4 cans of those. I was craving tomatoes.
I added a little parsley, like 2 Tbls
and a teas. of garlic powder.
I dumped in about 2 Tbls of olive oil cause I heard that was good in beans.
oh, yeah, and about 1/4 cup of shortening because my mom said my grandma always added that for flavor.

It simmered the whole time I was adding stuff, so it was about 6 hours total for the beans.

I can't figure out if there's something wrong with the beans or with me, I am on my 5th bowl!
The best is when I get to wash it down with a Diet Mountain Dew.
