Kauri aka Frogger

It is the end of swim team practice.

The coaches are starting to take down the lane lines after they had all the kids get out of the pool.

Kauri's shoes are on the other side of the pool.

I told her to get out and go get her shoes.

Of course, when I said to get out to get her shoes, all she wants to do is swim over to get her shoes.

So, she swims to the lane line, grabs it, then ducks under it, then swims to the next lane line "frogger-style."

Then, the next lane line.

Then, the next lane line.

She can swim far enough to skip the next lane line and swim all the way to the edge, but when she stopped at the second to the last lane, she observed that the coaches had the lane line unhooked and were dragging it out of the pool.

Thus,

taking away her "log on the river" to grab ahold of.

so, instead of risking drowning, she reversed her actions.

Ducking under the lane lines and swimming to the previous lane lines just as the coaches unhook the lines she just had ahold of which makes them not sturdy anymore.

It was more of a frantic, kick-and-swim-for-self-preservation swim this time.

Until she got back to the side of the pool where she started.

I am a Frogger fan, and it was just so funny to picture frogger in my mind

jumping from log to log

trying to stay away from the sinking logs

as I watched Kauri acting it out!!!!!

Kort's funnies:

Obviously frustrated about something...

Kort: I'll kill myself!
.
.

Me: You don't get to kill yourself, it's against the law.
.
.

Kort: No, it's a free country.

"Hi, Mom, this is Kyson, I just got in my first accident."

Really?

.

.

I just joined THAT statistic that I never wanted to be a part of.

.

.

You know the one: teenage driver gets into an accident

within the first 2 days of driving.

.

.

You know the other one, too,

of an unexperienced teenage driver on a motorcycle,

and not living through the learner's permit.

.

.

Yikes.

.

.

Just got him insured a week ago.

.

Just paid the money to get the scooter registered 3 days ago.

.

Just put the tags on it 10 hours ago.

.

Just let him take his first drive on the street 9 hours ago

(watching him the WHOLE time.)

.

Just let him take it out of our neighborhood 6 hours ago.

.

He has less than 2 hours of experience on it.

.

So, why was he driving it on a suicide street like Red Cliffs Dr?

?

?

?

I never would have given him permission

to ride it on that street this month.

.

Too many places for cars to pull out and not see a motorcycle.

.

Which is what happened.

.

A young male driver

(smoking) (therefore, distracted)

trying to cross the street, didn't see him on the bright YELLOW scooter.

.

Thank you-know-who that they BOTH slammed on their brakes and lessened the impact.

.

Kyson hit the car and went over the handlebars and landed on the hood of the car.

.

He came away with a scratch on his leg-can't even call it road rash, cause it's so minor.

Turkey!!!

He was very excited after we got home.

He had to call all his friends.

I've always told him that you only get to crash

on a motorcycle once, cause you're usually dead.

.

I think he realizes that he is lucky to be coming home

tonight instead of going to the hospital

in the ambulance that had arrived to take him there.
