Kauri's Commentary

Kauri hasn't showered with daddy for a couple of years, because she notices things, AND because she would tell him about it...

Last week, she showered with me to save time getting ready for church. And, just to put all you doubters to rest, I have BIG "muscles"!!

Kauri said so.

Later, when she was rocking with daddy, she discovered that he has "little muscles". He thought that was pretty funny.

I sat down at the computer to add to my blog, and I couldn't get on the computer. Someone had erased the username, and noone knew what it was. We had to restart the computer.
But, before we did, I hit an unknown key, and the perpetrater's name came up in the username space: kauri556525.

No! Way! It isn't possible... I sat her on my lap and told her to spell her name using the keyboard. This is what she typed:

kauri

I left it just as she typed it by herself.
I couldn't believe it, nor could I erase it. Enjoy!!

Kaibab's waiting,

see you in a few days.

Kyson Has A Few Queries of His Own

Kyson wondered why I haven't included him in my blog yet. I told him because he hadn't done anything cute enough to write about.

Yesterday's post had a 1700 ft
dropoff; I showed it to Kyson.

He asked me, "How did you know the cliff was a 1700 ft. drop-off?"

I told him because I had a map...

He said confusedly, "Oh, I thought you dropped your GPS down the hill or something."

"Thank you, now I have something to put in my blog..."

Kyson didn't go backpacking with us, cause he was in SLC at Youth Conference.
He wanted me to show his scout trip pictures of Moab.

"Don't put me under Queries, it makes me sound like i'm queer.
I'M NOT QUEER! Make sure you put that."

OK...

Kyson is on the left, on a rock, red hat.

This is his troop. (14-18 yr olds.)

Kortie's Quirks

Drowning?

Daddy thought so. He was kicking off his flippies and setting down the camcorder to save him. He had never seen Kortie swim before, especially that far. Kortlen, 5, is swimming in a race in his very first swim meet. That's right. Swim meet. This was the first time he has ever swum "belly-down" from one end of the pool to the other without stopping along the side of the pool. He even beat his best time by 30 seconds and earned his very own box of ice cream sandwiches for the feat. I guess this is where I should mention that he is swimming the freestyle. He's supposed to be swimming the backstroke. Oh, well, he beat one boy. When he was supposed to be swimming freestyle, he got mixed up and swam backstroke. So, I had him swim the opposite one this time so we could get a "time". When it was time to do breaststoke, we were all on the same page. I should also mention that he could only swim 10 feet 3 weeks before.

This is Kortie waiting for his heat. He is small for his age, and was the smallest and most adorable swimmer on the team. Those are the boys he raced. Behind him is Kinzie (middle) waiting for her heat. She also had a successful summer. She swam the IM in two different meets. That means she swam all 4 strokes during the race-even butterfly. I've tried to race my kids in the Butterfly before; my husband told me I looked like I was drowning.

Kinzie, 8, Mesquite Meet- getting set. The last 2 summers, my kids have had 4 swim meets in the two months they practice. We like the swim team at the college, because you can put as many kids on the team as you want for $200. Most places in town charge $120 per kid.

Kashton's favorite race is the IM. The coaches write the #s of each race, heat, and lane assignment on the kids' upper arm, so they can keep track of their own races. Then they go to church the next day, and hopefully, their church shirt covers it.

Hobbies of The Young and The Fearless

If I'm gonna jump off a cliff, I'm for sure going to be looking at my landing spot. Here's Kortlen, age 5, posing for the camera.

Kinzie, age 8, just learned to do this.
Can't wipe that smile off her face.

Koby and Kyson getting their arms ripped out while holding on for dear life...all the while screaming, "MORE MORE MORE!"

Kauri, age 3, cliff jumping. She did this 3 times. Each time she wanted to go up higher to jump off. When we told her it was time to go, she threw a fit. She wanted to jump some more.

Kashton, age 10, freaked out when his turn was over.

Kauri's Queries Continue

Kauri followed me around the house tonight questioning me as to where I was going. I told her that I was going on a date with dad. "A date?! I want to come on a date with you!" She wandered out to the garage where daddy was backing the car out of the garage while waiting for me. She looked at him with a puzzled look and asked, "Are you going on a date by yourself?"

This picture was taken 7-24-08 at the Sullivan Family Reunion at the Gardner Ranch. Too bad the pool isn't always available for swimming in.

Pool at the ranch

This is how the pool usually looks. This was taken the day after the reunion. An uncle watered the hayfields, and the water went bye-bye. (Koby is about 5 ft. tall.)

Best Friend Goes Bye-Bye

Kortie's best friend moved away two weeks ago. This is them on Jaydan's last day here. They are both big Kindergarteners now. Kort knows he can't play with Jaydan anymore, and hasn't asked to play with him until today. Then, Kort wanted to make sure that when Jaydan comes back when they are 10--that Kort will be 10 before Jaydan will.

...And Takes One of Kinzie's Best Friends With Him

This bunch spent a lot of time together the last few weeks the boys were here, so their mom could pack the house into boxes. Kauri loved playing with Jaydan, and asks to play with him almost every day.

Kauri's Queries

First, you

need to

know that

Kauri is 3,

the youngest

of 6 kids who

love to play

Game Cube--

without her.

The other day,

I dumped a 500 piece puzzle on the table and started sorting it.

Kauri wanted to help me, so she asked,

"Is that a 2-player?"
