UnBestBuylievable

Did any of you hear about the great Best Buy dabacle?

Here is just OUR version: We researched the laptops. We spent hours doing it. We finally settled on one and placed our Cyber Monday order.

The next day we were sent an email informing us that it was out of stock. They didn't know when they would get any, and if we wanted to cancel our order, here's how to do it. Okay, we would just wait and see. We didn't need the laptop anymore anyway.

The next week, the email said that it was still out of stock and it would ship as soon as it became available unless we cancelled our order. Fine.

The next week, the email said about the same thing.

The next week, a few days before Christmas, the email informed us that none of this back ordered item would be coming in and our order had been cancelled!

What the heck? No "here's an item of comparable value and comparable savings instead"?

I was mad. Really mad. How could a national chain of such reputation get away with this?!

I found on the website how to email the company, and I let them have it.

I told them: We missed out on 3+ weeks of good deals at other stores, because we were told that this was coming in eventually. Now it was 3 days before Christmas and we had no chance to replace this deal.

I told them I couldn't believe they didn't offer similar value in-store for us.

I told them I was infuriated at their lack of customer service.

I told them I would never be able to trust BestBuy dot com again.

We went to Best Buy locally to see if there was any sort of deals left or anything available in general. I absolutely expected to hear from them with them offering us a similar deal.

I heard on the news that there was quite a backlash for BB doing this to so many people. They mentioned that BB would be offering an instore credit of $30 to all its affected customers.

When I got my email with the credit in it, I couldn't believe what I read.
The laptop was on sale for $329. They gave us an instore credit of

$310!!!!

You read that right. I wondered if I read that right. I wondered all the way to the store till I had the gift card in my hand!

No need to spend non-tax deductable money on a tax deductable item.

We went to Costco and got a laptop there!  Insert smiley face here!

WOW. What a fun Christmas present that would make.

No way!!! Great marketing strategy. They took bad publicity and made everyone else wish it happened to them.
